Policies of Our Library |  | Policies and Information: Cards are non-transferable and should be presented when materials are borrowed. Replacement cards are $0.50 (fifty cents).
Children between the ages of five and thirteen are entitled to a library card upon obtaining the signature of a parent or guardian.
First-time patrons are limited to two (2) items per card; after that, there is a limit of six (6) items per card. Videotapes are limited to four (4) per household.
The loan period shall be two (2) weeks, with one renewal period of two (2) weeks. Renewals may be made over the telephone or in person, on or before the due date. The Library has a telephone answering machine; renewals may be made by leaving a message. There is a drop box located on the south wall of the Library near the sliding glass doors so books may be returned before or after our hours of operation.
Some Young Adult Informational material is limited to a one-week check-out period.
There is a late fee of five cents ($0.05) per day per item.
Our Library offers access to the Internet. Persons under the age of 18 must have parental permission to go online, and young people under 13 must have an adult present to use the computer. The Library offers basic computer instruction, on a one-to-one basis, free of charge; must be scheduled in advance.
Moriarty Community Library participates in the Inter-Library Loan System. Patrons are asked to pay one dollar($1.00) per Interlibrary Loan request to offset postage fees.

Computer Usage Policy |  | General Computer and Internet Usage: The Internet is accessible on the Library computers. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
The Library’s Internet workstations are openly visible to the general public, which includes minors. Exposing minors to sexually explicit materials is a violation of the New Mexico Statutes, 1978, annotated (Ch. 30, Art. 37) and the policies of the City of Moriarty. Violators will be prohibited from future use of the Library’s computers, and local law enforcement officials may be notified.
Children and teenagers can be targets of crime and exploitation in the electronic environment. Therefore, parents and guardians must either sign a permission slip for any person under 18 years of age to access the Internet, or remain with their minor child during the Internet session. The permission slip must be signed in the presence of the Librarian. Parents or guardians, not the Library staff, are responsible for the Internet information selected and/or obtained by their children.
Not all sources on the Internet provide accurate, complete, or current information. The user is advised to be a capable information consumer, discerning the validity of the information retrieved. The Moriarty Community Library has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content.
The Internet in the Library is a tool for educational and research purposes. It is not to be used for multi-user groups or chat groups.
All persons using the Internet must sign in at the circulation desk.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Use of the computers is on a first-come, first-served basis. However, individuals may call in advance and make reservations to use a computer at a specific time. The time is limited to a one-hour session. If no one is waiting, individuals may use the computer for an additional hour.
Children under the age of 13 will not be allowed to use the computer unless accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Patrons accompanied by children under the age of 5 may not use the computers unless another adult is present to supervise the children.
There is a fee for printing: 10 cents($0.10) per page for black and white and fifty cents($0.50) per page for color. This fee is subject to change without notice.
Downloading programs or executable files is prohibited.
Users are prohibited from making any changes to the software, or any settings or options.
No food or drink is allowed in the Library, including at the computer workstations.
