Imagine This... Imagine not being able to read the directions on a can of soup, a medicine bottle, or a confusing maze of highway construction signs.
Many adults in this community face challenges such as these on a daily basis. The Read "Write" Adult Literacy Program provides solutions to these issues.
The Read "Write" Program is a non-profit organization, dedicated to helping adults in Torrance County improve their reading, writing and speaking skills.
How would you feel if you couldn't read the newspaper or help your child with homework??? |

CONGRESSWOMAN VISITS Congresswoman Heather Wilson visited the Read "Write" Training Center and Bookstore during her day in Moriarty. She emphasized her interest in and support of Education and Literacy in New Mexico. The Congresswoman has had a representative from her office at many local and Albuquerque functions that focus on literacy and community issues. Tito Madrid, from her office has been involved with the Read "Write" Program and the Metropolitan Albuquerque Literacy Collaborative that networks Literacy Program Directors from a variety of Literacy Programs in the Central Region. Congresswoman Wilson, along with Betty Miller, our Program Director, did a public service announcement that focused on Literacy in the state. KNME's production department did the tape. We hope to have it aired by the local TV-Channels in the near future.
